Default Vibration/Noise

I have an 06 ram 3500 mega cab 5.9. Its lifted sitting on 40's. I have a odd sound vibrations that happens every so often. I don't really know how to explain the sound it makes. I first thought it was a tire but it would be alot faster sound if it was a tire. And yes I did still check the tires and all good. If I speed up it stops or if I let off the gas it stops. And like I said it doesn't happen all the time but it does happen alot. It can happen at 30 mph or at 70 that don't matter. And it always sounds the exact same. Does anyone have any idea of what this could be?
If I was to describe the sound it would be like if had a bad spot on a tire and was going about 15 mph the whole time. It never gets slower or faster a constant quick on off sound. I hope that makes since.
Also I have what I would call a shimmy when I take off from a dead stop. Its not bad but is noticeable. Anyone know what that is?
Thanks All
Aaron

check your carrier bearing on the rear drive shaft, and get a good look at the u-joints while you are down there

I crawled up under it yesterday and I really didnt think there was any play in the carrier bearing. I mean yes it moves but only slightly. The u-joints I was gonna check on to. Just didnt get the chance to jack up the rear and give them a good look over yet.

I had a keeper for the rear wheel bearing retainer nut move out allowing the nut to back off...sounded like what you are going through...might want to check your wheel bearings as well while u have it up in the air making sure the nut is still torqued to specs?

Well Im leaning toward the carrier bearing. Its not sitting in the center of the housing. Its sagging about 1/4 inch or a little more. Does anyone know of a place to buy these for cheaper than what the dealer wants for it?
Thanks as always
Aaron

the last one we changed, the guy went around to all the local parts stores, but never found one, ended up getting it from the dealer, but it would never hurt to look around your local stores, or mabe an internet search

here is one from ebay ---> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE...item5add9f28c2
