Default Truck keeps stalling

I have a truck at work 1998 ram 3500 5.9L cummins it keeps stalling for few seconds at a time. I'm not sure if the engine quits or if it is just the accelerator quits working had to down shift one time. Other times it was like the pedal wasn't doing anything at all. By the time i think to check the tack it is already moving again. Truck resumed travel after a few seconds but acts like you turn off the key then back on. Did it 4 times on a 1 hour trip. Does anyone have any Ideas? The check engine light stays on but I cant get the codes using the key trick. I will try again next week.

I will move this over to the Cummins section for you, get you some help. We're mostly gassers over here.

I occasionally have this problem when my truck isnt warmed up completely. Is it an auto or manual?

if its a 24v quit driving it, it is more than likely a lift pump failure, but dammage may already be done, the injection pump will BBQ very quick due to a failing lift pump

Nevermind, I re-read this and this isn't the same problem that I occasionally have.

Default 98 ram 3500

Truck is a 24 valve and i cant get it to pull the codes like i did in my 2001 using the key on off 3 times. I would like to know why the check engine light comes on after it runs a minute. it stays on until you kill it. I think the fuel injector was fixed so I would assume they checked the lift pump.

assume= *** out of u and me

Sounds like you have a dead lift pump or APPS sensor that is shot. If you can get the codes, that would help tremendously. Many auto parts stores will check for free.
