Long beds are better for towing for two reasons - longer wheelbase helps stability and longer bed allows for a 5th/gooseneck to be positioned directly over the axle while maintaining enough room between the cab and trailer during tight turns.

Short beds are better around town, especially in parking lots.

Long bed is best because you can throw more junk in it.

I just bought my 01 eclb its the first long bed ive ever owned and to me it seems like the ride is better. The turning radius is tight enough that it doesnt take long getting used to manuvering in and around the city.

I have an 8ft bed on the 3500 and it fits a 6" stretched Hayabusa with no problem.
