Default CAI - Replacement advice wanted...

I'm looking to replace the CAI on my 2006 3500. It currently has a K&N setup on it. When I replace it, can I use the K&N tube and CAI support or do I need to change that to match the brand of filter I buy? I can get a filter for around $75, the whole CAI kits are more expensive. Are the intake tubes the same diameter generally?

dont see why u cant do just the filter.A tube is a tube.Hell on my hemi i made a CAI out of 4" PVC,looked pretty nice really.I have tossed the thought of doing it to the cummins.Maybe a weekend beer drinking project when it gets warmer.
