Default 98.5 Tack not working!! Any ideas?

Hi Guys Its me again with more issues. The tack has not and is not working since I purchased this truck a month ago. I am not too familiar with these yet and am unsure of a lot of components. Is the tack electronic or mechanical? Where does it drive from? Is there a simple fix?
Thanks again for your help.

it is an electronic tach, try changing the sensor, tho i cant remember at the moment if it uses the crank or the cam sensor to run the tach

Default 98.5 24v

it should be a 24v if its a 98.5 whick means it has a cam sensor, PITA to change if you have big hands. I did the one on my 01 HO and it was cheap to buy and nearly caused me to push the truck off a cliff trying to install.
