trouble, need some help
Im running a 2005 dodge ram 3/4ton 5.9dsl with an edge programer with attitude along with a stage II intake from AFE and a 5 inch exhaust.
I was into the throttle and let off quick, i heard a loud poof of air coming from the front engine compartment sounded like a huge air leak. (like the hose came off an air compressor)
Now when im on the throttle and let off the my truck doesnt slow down right away its like the turbo is still forcing air in.
Im guessing my wastegate is blown, any thoughts? do i replace with a banks wastegate or BM i hear makes some?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

what you heard is probably "turbo bark" which is normal on that type of condition, and if you are talking about a nuetral or park free rev, it is also normal for 03+ engines to be slow to return to an idle
Im guessing a BOV would eliminate the slow return to idle wouldnt it?
I dont think it was turbo bark. I heard more like a high pressure hose coming off?? I looked at the intercooler tubes and they are aluminum not plastic but i might have a loose connection and under certain psi it wont hold. I will tighten everything and give it a try.

bov will not work on a diesel, and wont help the rpm's, if it blew a hose off, you would know, it would have very little power, and black smoke bad under any load, if i bark my turbos, it sounds like a bomb goin off under the hood, granted my setup is quite a bit different, but a good load and backing out of the throttle quickly, will result in turbo bark almost everytime, which is exactly what you explained, boost psi will not spike on a diesel if you let off the throttle, it instantly drops to 0 wich is what causes the bark
