Default Gear Guys and towing

I'm looking to get a new 3500 Single Rear Wheel drive Crew Cab. Looks like I will have to special order it if I want 4.10 gears. My reason for the 4.10 as opposed to the 3.73, I would like to put a taller tire on the truck. I felt if I got the higher gears, the taller tire would fall into the range of the 3.73.

Any thoughts if this might be reasonable thinking? As for towing weight, 10,000 pounds of combined boat and trailer along with up to 1,000 in the bed.
