Default 4x4 light that will not go out

I swapped a 04.5 diesel 5.9 HO engine into an 05 powerwagon. I completely transfered all diesel wiring into the dash but the diesel had a push button transfer case that i swapped out with my manual 4 wheel drive shifter on the floor. No power is reaching the switch on the transfer case and i did swap out the wiring harness for the pushbutton 4 wheel drive with a diesel manaul 4 wheel drive harness. The transfer case is different in a powerwagon than a regular diesel because the 4 wheel drive switch is not compatable but both are a plunger type switch. This tells me that its an on off switch on both and supposedly the wire goes straight from the cluster where the light is lit to the switch and no where else. I tried a jumper wire to the swich and too a ground but that did not work to turn out the light.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Someone has tried to switch out a push button 4 wheel drive to a manual shifter on the floor. It is tens times better without the headaches of all the electronics.

I will probably have one of the first 8-12 inch air bag lifts on a diesel Powerwagon. I have but one issue, the 4 wheel drive light on the dash which i would love to make work but if i have too could pull the bulb.
