Major mileage decrease when injectors replaced
I have a 2004.5 HO cummings and my injectors where showing signs they needed to be replaced. The rpms where sticking and very slow to return to idle, hard starting. So I had all brand new bosch OEM injectors installed. Since then I went from 18 in town to between 13-15. The injector shop said it just happens to Cummings sometimes. Is there any truth to that or anything I can do.
don't take it to heart its a pet peeve of mine to. i worked at a dodge dealer as a mechanic for seven years and ive seen it spelled cummings a lot even by other techs and salesmen. i would have brought it up if horatio didn't.
you shouldnt see a drop in mileage at all from new injectors, if the old ones had problems then if anything you should see an increase in mileage. i replaced them in probably fifty CTDs and if anybody got worse gas mileage they didn't come back in and complain.
maybe it just happens to the guy who installed them at the shop you took it to because he dont know what he's doing.
