Default Making Oil?

Had my first oil change (Amsoil) about 700 miles ago. Just pulled the stick and my oil level is about 1/2" into the metal of the dipstick....surely it was not overfilled, could the emissions junk be causing it to "make oil". Is this level high enough to cause engine damage?

it was either over filled, or you have an injector or injector tube leakin fuel into the crankcase, also checking a hot engine can also give the appearence of being a bit over full

make sure its dead level when checking. If my 5.9 is pointed the slightest little bit up hill it will be over full by a quarter inch or so.Theres alot of oil in there so if its unlevel either way it will make a difference.

I'm pretty sure there was a bulletin on this.

Anyway, unless I was smoking too much crack the day I read that bulletin, the 6.7 tends to retain a bunch of oil in the CCV filter and it requires a mildly extended oil drain interval.

Or just change the oil after the truck has been sitting for a while.

BUT, if you've let the oil drain for long enough, and it still seems to be gaining oil, then I'd suspect a fuel injector.
