Default GCVW for Ram 3500 help needed

The owners manual says my GCVW is 20,000#. Can this be right? I have a Ram 3500 with the 5.9 Cummins, 6sp. I am not commercial. Stopped at the first scales in Alaska and had a combined weight of 22,700. Going through Canada to lower 48, and now I'm worried. Neither the truck or trailer is exceeding their GVWR, but it is over my book value for GCVW. It pulls great. BTW, I'm not commercial.

It is a 02 model, 6 speed manual transmission, 4wd, and I think it is the 3.55 axle ratio. I'm guessing at the axle ratio since I can't find it stated anywhere.

Default GCVW for Dodge Ram 3500

I learned on the web that B.C. does not have a penalty for over gross combined weight, only for over gross or axle weights. Don't know yet for Alberta or the Yukon. I have to assume that the owners manual has the correct GCVW (20,000 with the 3.55 axle ratio). Thats a pretty light load for the Ram 3500, and I routinely see much greater loads running down the highway. The truck runs and stops great at 22,700 and gets 12.5 mpg. Not bad, better than when pulling my 5th wheel.
