Exhaust difference

Would it make a difference if I upgraded my exhaust system without doing anything else?
Besides breathing a little better?

my take

from what i understand the stock four inch system is good up to 500 to 525 hp. i have a few mods on my '07 and the stock system appears fine, and i pull heavy with my truck.
