Default 05 - 48re hunts gears and cannot make up its mind, but has had 2 new transmission...

I have an 05 3500 with the 48re, the truck has 104k on it and has had these sorts of issues pretty much most of its life, the 1-2 hunting was resolved with a VB replacement around 40k. Before the warranty had run out I had the transmission replaced thinking there was a lot wrong with it but turns out it was in pretty good shape.

It has a new and unabused transmission in it now, I am wondering if anyone has found an electronic means causing these issues and if so what have you done about it?

Have you tried getting your TCM/PCM reconfigured? I would assume that the TCM and PCM are integrated into one unit but maybe you have a glitch in your programming.

Default Shifting Problems

Hello to all,

As you can see I'm new to this forum, so please be nice to an old man LOL!!!!

Well, we have a 2006 2500 Mega Cab with the 5.9L diesel with 140,000 miles on it. At about 132,000 the torque convertor went out, now we are having a problem when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd. In order to get it to shift the RPM's have to be around 2500 and speed about 40, then it slams into 3rd gear. When it down shifts from 3rd to 2nd it slams at about 30 mph. The shop is telling me it is an electrical problem, Dodge is trying to sell me a $2500 computer with no promise it will fix the problem. I'm hoping that someone can give me some direction on how to fix this problem. At this point a new F-250 is in my future. All other shift points are fine, and if I take off fast it shift great. It is all the other times is shifts bad.

Thanks
Tim
