Default Chains sever abs wire

Hello,

After having to chain up while hunting, as I was going down the mountain road, the front driver side chain severed the abs wire right near the wheel, parallel with the brake line, and then fell off. I did recover the chain. My abs light is now on, of course, and my cruise control does not work.

My question is, should I mend the wires (it looks like just a lead and ground wire) or should I replace the wire with a new one?

It was my fault with the chains, they worked great, would have been even better with tighteners, instead of the tighteners forgotten in the garage, so the repair is in my hands.

Thanks!

Edit:

Also, where can I find a new sensor wire if I need to? I have not been able to on the net, only the unit.

Default Whether to rewire or repair

Since I'm not a mechanic maybe my thoughts wouldn't count much but if it's just a couple of broken wires, and you should be able to tell just cleaning up the ends, what have you got to loose trying to solder them and using good heat shrink wrap to seal the connections from water and dirt? Then if it doesn't work you can still replace at greater expense.

Default Repaired

Thanks for your advice Gerry, I did exactly that and after a little soldering and heatshrink it look as good as used!

The chains must have yanked the sensor out of the wheel further down, because it the light is still on! Guess it is time to get a replacement!
