Default Oil testing company question

Does anyone out there know of a company that takes a sample of your oil and checks it for wear and tear and see how well your engine is doing? A buddy of mine has a vw tdi and theres a company out there that takes oil samples from peoples engines to tell them how there engine is doing. As in wear and tear. And if its burning oil or if theres any particles in it that arnt suppose to be there. Before he does an oil change he gets a sample from his car. And sends the sample to the company. You put mileage of car and miles on the oil sample sent and they do a diagnosis on your oil and tell you whats happening in your motor. I just didnt mnow if there was a company that did that for our cummins or not? Thanks.
