Default power steering pump question

Should the power steering pump oil tank be under any pressure?
Coming home today I noted an oil spot under the truck. Looking under the hood I find fresh oil around the filler cap of the P-S pump reservoir, I pull the cap off and a fair amount of oil came splashing out! The truck has been parked since the weekend and has not moved or run. Never had a leak before and I don't think it was overfilled.
Anyone ever saw that happen?
Truck is 2007 3500, 6.7.

Wow, lots of read but not reply.
I guess it must not be a common issue.
Anyhow, before I start throwing money into parts swap, I did a PS oil change and so far so good.

Hey, Mooneyac. Is your PS still okay? I found a leak that I need to fix. It looks like it's coming from the filler cap, similar to yours, but it seems like a lot to just be coming from there.

mine leaks from the steering box, and before that leak it was a pin hole in both hydro-boost lines.

my pump needs replaced as well...soon my truck will have 100% new steering lol...already replaced 80% of it...

now just need to do the damn column bushing, the steering shaft, the box and the pump and it will be 100%
