Im debating a new truck, every spring I talk my self out of it, so Far now I have some questions on the dodge components on a new 2500 6.7 with a 6speed man trans, 373 lt slip, 4x4.
I have had no luck keeping u joints on my 06 2500 hemi 4x4, at 120,000 km the front ones are shot, they were replaced at 55,000 km under warenty, my truck is all high way, All u joints on my truck, front to back has failed while under warenty.
Looking at thease trucks, the u joints, front and rear suspension look identical to my 06 2500, I know the CTD has bigger axles, but the u joints look identical to my 06.
Im the irst to admit I don't need the CTD, but I don't want a automatic and the 6sp 5.7 hemi in a 2500 is gonzo.
so lets cut to the chase, only reason dodge is a remote option is the 6sp man transmisson, my 06 2500 is falling apart for a high way cruiser only, I don't want a 1500 Ram.
Is the 4rth gen CTD drive train identical to my 06 thats failing due the insane hp and torque numbers from my hemi (LoL) and is thier the chronic front end issues from the 3rd gen Rams hidding in the new and improved Ram 2500?
Are the seats better, ie no metal ridges tearing away at the seat fabric and bitting my ***!
AS I mentioned before Dodge is the only brand offering a man transmisson, and Im pissed that chrysler wants to charge me for the up grade to a CTD, but if the drive train is week or weaker, than I will jump into anothier brands 1500 half ton ( no ford)
I have had no issues with ball joints and stearing on my 06 2500, but I know people who lost tie rods on stock trucks

The part numbers for the U-joints are different for 2006 and 2012. Not saying they are better or worse, but do not interchange. Steering issues gone for a while now since the death wobble fix. Seats are much better, I have had a 1999, 2001, 2006 and now a 2011. I drive on average 125 miles a day and the 2011 is the best riding of them all. What I don't understand about your post though is the fact you are mad at Dodge for charging more for a CTD. That makes no sense to me. Do you expect Dodge to give you a CTD for the price of a Hemi? It is called a upgrade because it COST MORE.

Cummuns issues effect all new HD trucks, Detriot Cat, ect all have this cleaner buring emissons crap built into them that have to idle on high to burn off all the crap trapped in filters.
With the 6.7 you don't need whale **** (urea) unlike Ford and GM.
My main concern is the drive line
