Default Check Engine light

Does anybody know if the check engine light will go out if you finally correct the problem or does it have to be reset by a tech? I blew a fuel line and now the check engine light comes on. I dont have the code, but a tech said it was fuel deliver issue. I changed the filter and it did not looked clogged. The whole driverside compartment got hosed with fuel when the fuel line went. Anybody have any clues?

Does anybody have any comments on a machine that can read codes without having to take it in for $100 each and everytime it comes on OR if I want to reset it?

thanks,
JB

IIRC once the problem is fixed you will need to turn the ING switch on and off 5 or 6 times and the light will go out... Also most major auto parts house can read and clear the codes for Free.
