Default 24v veggie oil conversion

Can you do straight veggie oil into a 24v cummins after the heating and filtering process plus the filtering before the tank?
I was told that the best Diesels to do the veggie oil conversion to are 97 and older, so in dodge terms that would mean 12valves. Why would this be? why would a newer 24valve be a bad idea according to everyone else? Is it possible to even do the straight veggie oil conversion onto a 24 valve?

I have looked into this... first thing you must do is find a cheap or free.. consisten supplies og veggie oil.. if you can find one... which is hard because most places get paid for the used fryer oil.. you will need to find time to heat and filter and refilter all that oil... if you can do all the above then you can worry about what motor to run it in... any diesel will run on veggie oil, peanut oil, tranny oil and #2.... some will run better than others... I would not run wvo on a truck with a CAT or DEF though....

you truck will also need another tank for the veggie oil that is heated.. the veggie oil will congeal and become thick when cold... it will not be able to flow to the injector pump and might clog injectors

bottom line.. find, collect, heat, filter, filter, filter

I actually own 2 restaurants so collecting isn't hard, and as for every thing else I already know because my uncle already runs it in his 85 chevy. I was just wondering if the 24v would break from the veggie oil, because of its abbility to eat seals so fast. Also I have been told that the electronics on the 24v won't accept it as easy is that true?

I have a 98 12V that runs a 2 tank system. For cleaning you can look at building a system with a Diesel craft or look at WVO designs. They are both centrifuge systems for cleaning. The problem with running on a 24v is the loss of fuel pressure with the veg lines when the filter starts to clog. You will need to put in a fuel pressure gauge to keep a close eye on this so as not to damage the injection pump.

I have a 20 gallon tank hidden in my tool box. There is a valve that picks between tanks right before the lift pump. The next valve picks between filters and the final one is for return. My diesel returns the way it normally does while the veg is looped back into the line before the first valve.

I drove from Denver to Houston last week. I got 17.2 MPG on straight veg unloaded and 15 pulling a car hauler on the way back.
