Metering/proportioning valve question
I am usually on the Cummins forum. I have not gotten an answer there so I have come to this page. I have a 98 12v. I have destroyed 2 front passenger side rotors in the last year. Just killed the 3rd this week. I have put in 2 new calipers. The truck has always pulled a little to the right when braking. The guy up at the parts house told me to replace the metering/proportioning valve. Dodge wants 130.00 for one. Does this sound like the problem?
Thanks,
Bob

It could be.
My 96 Bronco would lock up the front tires with maybe 5psi pedal pressure if the ground was wet. "No problem found" when I asked the body shop to look into it after putting the nose into a concrete wall.
If it was my truck, I'd probably replace the hoses, hard lines, and then the valve if it still wasn't corrected.
It's possible that the inside of the rubber hose is coming apart, and when you apply pressure then release a "flap" inside the hose could block the release of pressure, preventing the caliper from releasing.
