Default Help! I put gas in my Diesel Truck!

Well, I had my head up my *ss & put gas in my 99 3500 Dodge 5.9 diesel truck! I got all the gas out! I have Fass pump on it. I put 10 gallons of diesal in it & finally got it to start! I let it idle for a half hr. to let the battery charge. When I pulled out of the driveway the motor died. Got it start & put back in the driveway! My problem is, when motor temp. gets to 140*s or more it will not idle below 1,000 rpms. I took the truck out for a test ride & it runs fine, but it will not idle! Everyone thinks its the injector pump, if so why would it run so good above 1000 rpms. Help please!

I'd fill it up, dilute it as much as possible, and put an additive in there.

How much gas was put in? About the only option now is empty the fuel out of the tank, discard and refill with fresh diesel. Also your should probably change your fuel filters. A little gas you can get away with, ive heard of truckers adding a few gallons in winter but they have 2-300 gal tanks. Definately throw and additive in there to counteract the solvent properties of the gas. Hope it all works out

I put 30 gallons of gas in it! I got all the gas out, haven't changed the filters, I did take them off & dump them. I have a Fass 150 pump on it. I got it running now but it won't idle after the motor get to 160*. It runs down the highway @ 70 mph with no problems it just won't idle below 1000 rpms. I'll change the filters today!I just wonder if the FCA went south? "Coal Train" what do you think?

You probably still have some unleaded in there causing early detonation with the warm engine. I didnt think 24v had a FCA, isnt that a CP3 part?

I think so, not sure! Thank you for your time! I just don't want to buy a injector pump unless I have too!

A buddy of mine runs a gallon of unleaded in every tankful, along with 15 gallons of ATF.

After you dumped the tank of gas and replaced it with good diesel it would of been a very good idea to add 1-2 qt of 2 cycle oil or non detergent 30 wt oil to the fuel tank, a dose of fuel additive may also help.
