Default Which Engine Brake?

Which engine brake are you using? What are the pros and cons of the different types? I have a 2006 5.9 Cummins with a standard shift 6 speed. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I'm currently using a Pacbrake on my 98. If I didn't have a 12-valve, I'd have skipped buying a dedicated brake and I would have gone with the VGT turbo off the 6.7 and an aftermarket controller. My 08 had WAY more braking force than this truck. It's possible that there's something wrong with my brake, but I'm less than impressed.

Thanks for your response. How long have you had your brake? Is it one of the earlier models of the brake? I have done some research on the PacBrake and have found that the newer model works better than the old one.
I would also like the hear from members who have used the BD engine brake.

Mine is less than a month old. Maybe my expectations are skewed after having an 08 with the VGT's brake, or maybe there's something horribly wrong with mine, but it just doesn't seem to do a whole heck of a lot of good.

So you are using the new version of the PacBrake? If so, I am very disappointed since I had expected a lot more from reading their material and talking to them.

Do you have standard or automatic?

Eh, I got it fixed after talking with tech support for a few minutes. Apparently the newer trucks have an EGT port, the older trucks (like mine) don't. Don't stick your egt probe in the port in the side of the brake housing, it's for a gauge only. The brake bent my EGT probe about 45 degrees.

It works great. Much closer to what I was expecting, I just wish it had been working for the trip across the country towing a ~12k pound trailer.

I've got an auto, but eventually I want to buy a 4x4 with a manual, then swap my brake, bypass filter, and airdog over.
