Whats up. My dad has a 2009 2500 cummins and he said the truck just didnt act like it was running right and the check engine light was on. So he took it by the dealer and they check the code and said it was the turbo. They keep it to tear the turbo apart and called him the next day and said it was just a "Dirty Turbo". They said they cleaned it and everything was good. Have any of you heard of this or know what causes it????? I have been around diesels for awhile and have never heard of this. Any type of feed back would be great. Thanks
Yep. Soot builds up on the turbine vanes. Your dad needs to run with the exhaust brake on all the time. This was an extremely common occurrence when the 6.7 first came out.
He can thank the EPA smog junk they put on all 6.7L engines, though most trucks that are used as 100% hard working trucks don't often have dirty turbo problems.
