Knocking from engine.
Recently bought an 06 2500, manual, with a jake brake and flatbed with around 110 thousand miles on it. I really love this truck and plan on having it a long time. Was a work truck for a ranch and was used on gravel roads alot and overloaded quite often too. Am replacing the front in u joints now. The question I have is that I have noticed a knocking coming from the engine. It has gotten a little worse over the past 3 weeks and is noticable while driving. I say I hear it best around 15 to 20 thousand rpms. Not able to video it for you guys now but was wondering if you guys could help me narrow it down. I dont want it to be a rod, what else could it be? Any way for me to find out or am I going to have to bite the bullet and take it in?
Also, this started after I changed the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter. Used Delo 15W-40. Not sure if it was the NG or LE. I didnt fill the oil filter with oil when I changed it, hopeing this isnt the cause. Also this truck has had off road(red dyed) diesel most of its life. Hope this is enough info and will try to get that video up.

These engines knock and tick for no reason. If it is not smoking white or black, and its not spewing smoke out of the oil fill cap, it should be fine. Might want to get an oil analysis done on your next oil change, that is the best way to get an idea about the internals of your engine. Try running a heavy dose of injector cleaner through and then change the fuel filter. After that try adding some two stroke oil to your fuel @ 1oz per gallon (35gal tank) and see if that clears it up, could just be injector knock.
Try Redline 85 Diesel treatment before you go dumping weird stuff in your tank. One full bottle on a full tank then 1/3 of a bottle every fill up after that. You wont believe how quiet your engine will be.
