Default new to diesel...buying 04.5 6 speed...thoughts

Looking to buy a 2004.5 cummins with the six speed. Only question is what are some things I should look out for or general thoughts? It is 4 wheel drive and 189,000 miles. The guy has had it for a year and a half and doesn't think the clutch has ever been replaced. Drove very nice, clutch wasn't slipping. Front end has had work done on it. I'm movin from a 5.9 L gasser into the diesel world so lookin for some expertise advice. Thank you

looks like a nice rig. make sure you get gauges and a fuel system for it if it doesn't already have them.

just make sure it starts easy and runs smooth. and if its got bad steering slop or not..dodge didn't really fix the steering till 08.5 and newer...

common rails are strong engines. only weakness is cracked injectors...make sure rail pressure stays in spec (need rail pressure gauge) and that it gets good fuel flow (fuel system like airdog or fass) and she'll be the strongest truck you ever owned. gasoline doesn't hold a candle to diesel when it comes to how ridiculously easy it is to get reliable power out of them.

also be carefull with the trans ive seen lots of people start adding power to the motor and forget the trans and in a G56 3rd, 4th, or 5th have a tendancy to grenade if you dont do equil work to the trans it just depends on which gear wants to go first
