Ok so I tried searching for fuel additives. Nothing comes up. So what are you guys running for fuel additive/conditioner, if anything. Thanks John

a lot of us run wally world 2cycle oil @ 128:1 mix ratio with the fuel (1oz per gallon)

but that won't work for your truck. your truck was designed for Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel and adding 2-cycle will accelerate DPF problems on your truck as well as accelerate intake buildup from the EGR. older trucks like mine never came with emissions controls, not even a cat, nor was it designed to run on ULSD so it needs the additional fuel lubrication to ensure a long injection pump life.

so all of that said, there have been lubricity studies with the different additives showing what has the best lubrication ratings and what does not.

the best on the chart was soypower biodiesel (anything 2% or more biodiesel)
an additive that WILL work for your truck is optilube. you can look on the bottle or on their website for mix ratios, but its comparable in price to the wally world 2cycle oil and its actually safe for your emissions controlled engine. if you did the DPF and EGR deletes you could just run ashless 2cycle oil, but until you delete those: avoid 2cycle oil all together.

here's the chart

HFRR score is what you want to look at. lower numbers = better
