you can either look on the pump, or you can tell by year and transmission combination.

01-02 6-spd manuals had the HO pistons and HO injection pump.

99.5-00.5 had the SO pump and pistons with the 6-spd.

all trucks other than the 01-02 6-spds had SO pumps.

The SO pump is a more desirable pump as when you bring injectors and fueling boxes into the equation the SO pump has bigger plungers capable of pushing more fuel than the HO pump.

HO is high pressure low volume. higher pressure gives it the higher stock hp, but its volume it can move is limited.

SO is lower pressure, higher volume. lower pressure initially gives it less hp, but when tuned, its higher volume can move more fuel making it capable of significantly higher HP potential.

many guys change from the HO pump to the SO pump after their injection pump dies so they can benefit from the higher fueling capacity.

from what I have heard, the SO computer wont work with the HO pump..

suppose you can always look at the tag on the pump to see what it is for sure...

SO pump will show 235hp rating on the pump
HO pump will show 245hp rating on the pump

you can run 1200* all day long safely. you can run short runs up to 1400* but don't hold it there too long as that is starting to touch the danger area and over a long run can cause problems. anything above 1400 is too hot and can damage the turbo and engine.

now since you have a tuner, I have an important question for you...

Do you have an aftermarket lift pump and a fuel pressure gauge??

If not: get them ASAP! the stock lift pump can't keep up with the fuel demands of any form of tuner on the 24v vp44 trucks. The injection pump if starved of fuel or ran at low fuel pressure for prolonged periods will fail very quickly.

fuel pressure must be kept between 10-20psi under all running/throttle conditions. if it ever dips below that it can cause damage to the pump. ideally you want 14-20psi at all times to keep the overflow valve open the help cool the pump by constantly circulating fuel through it.

where is the probe located? exhaust manifold or in the pipe after the turbo?

if its in the manifold you can do like jigabop says, i try to keep mine under 1300, but if its in the pipe i wouldnt go much over the 1100 mark

33psi post fuel filter????

if so thats waaaay to much and needs to be addressed immediately!

10-20psi is fuel pressure spec from bosch. too low starves the injection pump causing overheat and excessive wear, too high can damage the diaphragm inside the injection pump...
