Default Probably a newbie p pump question

Can any year newer engines be converted, 5.9 and 6.7?

I'm on the market for a manual 4x4 but need it reliable as it will be shipped to he middle of nowhere. Can they be tuned for strictly fuel economy, it'll pull the odd trailer or camper I'm not worried about overworking it. We had a Mercedes Unimog, he fuel and governor could be turned up and down for more fuel and speed in minutes

I know this is a dodge forum but you guys like inline 6 diesels and I'm sure you like 46 inch tires. This one wrapped up 140000 miles working as a forestry truck, speed was governed to 40mph with the 76 hp engine so it must have had a new engine at one point as it had 7500 hours when it blew for lack of oil. I put in the same engine higher horsepower from a longer truck for more speed. I drove it 600 miles in one weekend knowing there is nothing to worry about. All I needed was the fan belt, ran without an alternator and I wouldn't even know it. No glow plugs no engine or air preheating just high compression. Below freezing it was hard to start, 10-15 below it was hit and miss without ether. I would like another one but I think a dodge is a better choice

no, not any year can be converted.

you can convert the old first gen 12v to a p7100, and you can convert the 2nd gen 24v to a p7100.

A common rail can not be converted to mechanical injection. don't see why you would try to convert one either.

anyway yes the p7100 can be tuned for fuel economy only. just crank the timing up to like 24-26*
