Default 2001 2500 4WD 5.9L Cummins Mods/Upgrades

My father-in-law is looking to boost MPG and torque for towing his 30' trailer. He has had the truck since it was new, and has done no mods. He is looking at a 5" exhaust and a programmer. I have suggested upgrading the turbo as it seems like it takes a while for the stock turbo to kick in. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

first off: we need to know what mods have been done to it...

if it does not have an upgraded lift pump and fuel pressure gauge on there, those are the very first things that need to be done.

next is it automatic or manual? if automatic, at the very least its going to need an upgraded torque converter and valve body for the transmission. if manual, it will need an upgraded clutch...

after that, get some gauges (EGT, boost, fuel pressure, trans temp[only required if automatic])

then you can go with either a quadzilla adrenaline or edge comp to make some good power and help economy a bit.

mild injector upgrade will work wonders as well... RV275's are pretty popular as a cheap injector upgrade that is compatible with the stock turbo...

also depending on which turbo you have hy35 or hx35, you will want a j-hook for the hy or a boost elbow for the hx to get the turbo to spool past 26psi. you can spool the hy to 32psi safely and the hx to 35psi safely.
