If anyone can help me out i would appreciate it a lot. I have a 01 5 spd i've owned since it was new it now has 213,000 miles on it. I don"t pull anything an for the most part drive it 30 miles a day round trip. The other day i was going to work and 5th gear was gone there's nothing there but i still have reverse. I pulled in to the shop checked the oil and it was full. I'm hoping its something simple as i'm getting ready to move 3 states away. And i don"t have the money to replace or rebuild it. But i have the ability to repair it if its something simple. Thanks in advance for any information that may help me out of this bind.

 

Sounds like you lost your 5th gear nut.


You're going to need to crack that puppy open and fix it.

It's a common enough problem with the NV4500.

 

yup. very common problem with the 5-spd. nut backs off and no 5th gear...need the 5th gear fix, or weld it on.
