Default 03 Transmission problems

I have a Cummins 2500 4x4 quad cab. When I was driving home the other night my drivetrain went into coast. I slowly pulled over and could not understand what had happend but saw nothing unusual on dash. I so attempted to put the tranny into park with motor still running so I could check fluid level. That is when I learned that tranny would only go into N D 321. I check fluid level anyway and then checked the transfer case. It had slipped into N and as soon as I pulled shifter into 2H and D all worked again. However when I reached my destination my tranny will no longer go into R or Park anymore. After researching manual I see that I may have screwed myself not knowing that the transfer case had gone into N ( no dash light for N or 2H ) and damaged the tranny somehow.
Can anyone tell me how bad I damaged and a cost or idea what I am into now?
Thank you

With the transfer case in N and the engine running, I'd wager you heard a pretty good grind while trying to engage Park. Usually it doesn't hurt anything, but I suppose you could have damaged the park pawl.

At the time two of us did not hear any grinding of such just no going past neutral after shifting the transfer case into 2H. Sure wish they had indicator lights for N and 2H on the dash.
