My buddy came over this morning and looked at the truck. He said the engine and transmission are sound.

There's an indication of seepage from the valve cover gasket and he recommends having one of the hoses that comes from the turbo being replaced in the near future. He said he would buy the truck if it were him.

I also learned that the truck belonged to a neighbor of another coworker. He believes the truck was babied and never really hauled anything.

You will get more of an answer in the right section.. But too me for the year the price seems really high even tho its rust free.

Anyway to the op. Seems like a solid truck and at a pretty fair price. I would go for it and other than the tranny lines that is the only thing that would concern me. Diesels arent known to leak some oil. Heck my engine has 48k on it and it still seeps some oil. No puddles or drips but its damp. I would plan to change all the fluids except the tranny as long as the dealer did it. I always like to make sure they fluids are good in any used vehicles I buy that way I know its done.

I did.

They are changing the lines tomorrow morning and I'll pick it up after work.

Now looking for tires to replace the ones on the truck.

Just ordered the factory service manuals from the Dodge website. Is the supplement something I should also pick up?

New tires scheduled to be put on tomorrow.

OK - nevermind. I misread, it's a supplement for the van/wagon.

On another note - do these ignition keys have chips in them or can any key-cutter make new keys?

Just filled up the truck after my first road trip. Didn't have to as I still had just over 1/2 tank of fuel left, but I wanted to check mileage.

287 miles @ 19.66 mpg - this includes about 30 miles of in/around town driving and a few slow downs due to accidents yesterday. I travelled mostly 65 - 73 mph on the highway.

I am ecstatic! My E350 averaged 13 mpg.

Looks good!

Edit to add: I wanted a 2003-2006 4x4 regular cab or extended cab with a long bed - but those aren't too easy to locate. When this popped up at a local dealer I couldn't resist.
