New Guy: Electrical Ghosts on my 2007 5.9 24V Cummins
Hi Guys, You´ve got an awesome Forum, congratulations
I bought a brand new 2500 RAM (5.9 24V Cummins) in 2007, 6 years and 200.000 miles after, still in love with Her. But after 6 years of grueling treatment and little maintenance I´m having some electrical Issues, as follows:
- Tach is Insane, sometimes 0 RPM, then jump to 2000 or 4000 and even make a 360° turn and get stuck there. Engine runs good, decent mileage and, as always, lots of power.
- Lights and wipers sometimes have their own live (Try to blink and get wipers, high beams and get blinkers....this happens rather erratically).
I´ve read quite a lot about some electrical grounding issues, but couldn´t find a guide for a DIY solution (I am pretty sure that dealers here in Chile will damage more tha repair)
I´m buynig a new truck to replace this (Dodge RAM 2500, Cummins of course), but still I want this one as a backup and I would like to pamper her a bit, after a life of misstreatement....
BTW please excuse me for my faulty English, but here we speak Spanish or German (In my close family)

I would suggest going on cumminsforum.com and searching that forum and asking those guys. you will get a far quicker responce and there are 100x more cummins guys over there than there are here.
another useful tool would be to buy a service manual for your truck so you can look at the electrical diagrams to find all of the ground points.
