Default block heater

07 2500 ctd 5.9
does the block heater just help the engine or does it help
the fuel from jelling

Engine only. All it warms up is the coolant around the engine block.

is this to protect the engine or just get it to warm up quicker once started

makes the engine easier to start in the extreme cold.

like 20 - 40 below, etc.. truck will start easily if it has been plugged in and won't take long to warm up because the coolant is already pre-heated.
