Default warning lights=better MPG???

I'm having a problem with my Bully Dog Power Pup and its causing my ABS, Air Bag, and Brake lights to stay on all the time. This is a problem, but the real question here is why I'm getting an extra 2-3MPG with these lights on. I assume the engine is de-fueling to prevent engine damage, much like gasoline engines over-fuel when the check engine light comes on and this is increasing the mileage (instead of lowering MPG in gas vehicles). ANyone got the real answer? Thanks.
