Default 05 Cummins won't start

I am new to the sight looks like lots of great information. I have an 05 with interesting new problem. When the key is on 2 guages are dead Fuel and volts. Truck will roll over but not start. I tryed lots of things with no luck until I stubbled across this. When i unplugged a main plug by firewall and plugged back in all systems fired up, pcm, fuel pump heater etc and the truck started right up! I also have lots of codes after this and trans wont shift into OD. Is this a bad plug, IPM or what? Which way should I go?

Is there any corrosion in the plug?

I would clear the codes and see if any return.

Plug looks clean. I also looked at plugs under IPM and ECM on engine. It all looks good. It looks like some corrosion on the IPM circuit board underneath. I didnt take apart yet. Could there be anything with the key? I,m curious because unplugging the connector cycles power and forces everything to fire up. I think I may continue getting codes until I stop turning pcm on this way. Frustrating!
