Question on a 95 Cummins
This has just started happening. My pickup always has fired up no problem, and runs well. But lately I can drive it around for days, stop it, start it as many times as I want but then periodically it hard starts and won't idol. I keep my foot on the gas and it will run, but as soon as I let the pedal all the way out it dies. During this time it's not smoking or anything. (This truck is bone stock and an automatic) after the first time it did it I left it and come back the next and and fires right up, idols just fine, and away I go. I was out of town workin for a week and came back drive around, go to start it same deal. Only this time i wait about 15 min and then it fires right up and away I go.
Is this a torque converter locking up or a fueling issue? I've read multiple threads on both and issues and can't decide by myself which one it may be. Or something entirely different all together. Thanks for any help

if its the converter failing, usually you will get some noise (like metal on metal) and the truck trying to push while on the breaks, requiring more brake pressure to stop the truck,
sounds like a possiable fuel issue, first thing always is to change the fuel filter, and check the screen in the fuel heater located just foward of the lift pump,
also your idle could have droped off over time, the spec on it is about 850 rpm's while idleing in gear (stoped) with the a/c on
check thoes things and that should locate the issue, if it doesnt, you will need to dig deeper
