Default 2003 ram 3500 5.9 cummins

Hard and no start, fuel delivery?
My 2003 dodge ram with 5.9 Cummins diesel won't start after sitting overnight (usually) has some sort of fuel delivery, I think. After much cranking if I change the fuel filter it will usually start. Thinking that it might be a lift pump problem, I installed a new lift pump and changed the inline filter before it. Didn't make much difference, so I dropped the fuel tank to inspect for dirt, etc. Didn't find hardly any but cleaned screen and reinstalled tank. No difference. Any Suggestions? I have run out of ideas. Please help!

Older trucks will behave like that when they suck air into the lines.

check input fuel pressure to the CP3, if the fuel pressure is between 10-30psi, then check the rail pressure...
