Doesn't it make you want to vomit? I'm glad most of it got covered by warranty.

While I was over at Ford we had a customer who filled his relatively new super duty with contaminated fuel and it cost him close to $10k, and that was a steeply discounted price because he was a good customer. Everything in his fuel system got replaced except the tank and lines.

This is from sprinkles08 at justanswer.com.

"Exhaust braking is a function of the variable geometry turbo. The turbo has an electric actuator on it that moves a sliding ring to vary the speed of the compressor and control boost precisely. The exhaust brake function utilizes the same parts and moves the ring to a position where it blocks exhaust flow from leaving the manifold and into the turbo. This creates a large amount of backpressure between the pistons and turbo, so you get the exhaust brake function."
