Default exhuast question

Hey guys im putting a stack on my 98.5 24v.

Dumb question maybe, but do put the new piping and elbow on it will be easier to just cut the muffler out rather than cutback and relocate it.

My question is will this hurt my engine at all without the muffler in the exhuast with backpressure or whatever. I don't know much about all that.

^I'm straight piped, no problem on the 99 24v. But I don't go through any emissions test. K.
