My truck died just as I pulled into mcdonalds. It would run for about 5 seconds and die. After about 5 tries it finally stayed running, drove it about 20 minutes and it ran fine. Lift pump is on the back of the filter. How to test? What caused it? How to bleed pressure off?

So are we talking about a 6.9 IDI, DT466, or what?

Airdog/Fass? I would think the factory lift pump would be in the tank by then.
