fuel filter
there is no g in cummins.
ya open up the fuel canister and change it out lol
its under the hood on the drivers side.
canister type so you just change the element inside and throw new o-rings on.
depending on which one you have it will either have a bolt on the top of an aluminum cap you take out to change it, or if it was like my stock one, it is a plastic top that the whole top unscrews from.
my aftermarket fuel system bypasses the stock filter and uses a spin on filter.
note once you change the filter and get it all sealed up, turn the key to on, bump the starter and let the fuel pump run for it's 30 second duration after the starter has been bumped before trying to start it.
should help prevent needing to bleed it.
if it doesn't start after the fuel filter change, then you need to bleed the fuel system before the truck will start.

You're lucky, I've got two to change. One on the frame just outside the tank and the traditional one in the engine bay. Although I do like the fact there are two to catch crud and water, the damn replacement cost is ridiculous, even ordering online...
I have an old airdog150 on mine. I change out the pre-filter/water separator every other filter change, and change the filter whenever fuel pressure starts dropping a couple psi below its normal range.
running fleetguard filters on the airdog that I buy off of amazon. Use the GF's prime account for free 2-day shipping
not too bad of a cost and they last quite a long time.I did clean out my tank though about 2 years ago or so when I put the modified liberty fuel module in. drained the tank, dropped it, and wiped down the inside of it to get the years worth of crap out of it. Figured I had to drop it anyway to install the stuff and replace my broken fuel return line, so might as well clean it while I'm at it lol.
FS19768 - water separator/mesh pre-filter
You can also use a FF5617 in the winter time if you are worried about your fuel starting to thicken/gel. FF5617 is a 7-10 micron filter.
