Default Was driving and it just quit

Question : my 2001 dodge diesel truck won't start it turns over but won't fire , it used to have a humming sound when it turned on the key waiting for the "wait to start " light to go out but now I don't hear it . I replaced the filter and the fuel pump and it still won't fire anybody have any thoughts on my problem?

That humming sound would be the lift pump and it should buzz for 25 seconds after you bump the key. If you are not hearing it, the lift pump is fubar...

Is the fuel pump the same thing as a lift pump because I changed that and it still won't start . When I unscrew # 1 & 3 injector and crank it over should fuel spray out like it under a lot of pressure or kind of blueprint out of the line? Thanks for all the help

Yes, a fuel pump is typically called a lift pump on a diesel. If its not buzzing for about 25 seconds on key toggle it's not functioning. The reason it's called a lift pump is there is a separate injector pump that's commonly referred to as the fuel pump or better yet the high pressure pump.

The lift pump is prior to the fuel filter bolted to the block. I'll see if I can find a diagram...

Or it was retrofitted into the tank.

Before you replaced the pump, did you verify it's getting power?
