Default Wait for the warranty to end or not?

Any thoughts on waitting for the warranty to expire before mods. This is the first vehicle I ahve owned that has a warranty so I do not want to screw it up. Is it some mods or all? I would like to plan some mods on my truck. I am going to put in a bedliner next week, Rhino if anyone has comments on that, and add some tint to the front windows first( I realize these wont effect the warranty). It seems that some say wait for the warranty to end and others say no big deal. I wanted to start with a good air filter kit, then may be gauges (which should not effect the warranty) so I can add others. Any thoughts on waitting for the warranty to expire or not. Also which intake should I be saving for?

I had about 500 miles on mine before I started modding it.
Changed the intake to a dropin from Airraid and a MIT.

you really may want to ask the service manger at your dealership. i think some dealerships are willing to let more mods go than others. personally, within 1 month of getting mine i added a 2" leveling kit, rims/tires, cut off the muffler and cat, and added an intake. i later added a box. i have been in for a warranty repair one time for a bad u-joint. i took my box off before i went to the dealership....they did not say one word about any of my other mods and i was fixed in 2 days

Of course you can make the modifications you mentioned above without having any issues with the warranty. We also have a 06 CTD and had the rhino lining sprayed on right away and had the windows tinted as well. We traded in our 01 GMC Sierra and I had the rhino lining put in it as well. We have had great success with it and am very happy! I would recommend a AFE filter which shouldnt void your warranty and the gauges shouldnt either. We are also going to get a chip which will void the warranty, but it can be removed before you take it in for any warranty work. The chip I recommend for your truck is the Edge With Attitude, but unfortunately it isnt out yet. They do have one out but it had GPS on it and runs about $1200. We are waiting for the regular one to come out. My Husband is a diesel mechanic and works on these every day and the shop he works for will remove the chip for you every time you have to go to the dealer for warranty work free of charge.

I do have a question for you. I think you did say you have a 06 as well? How many miles do you have on it and is it a 4x4 automatic? If so, what kind of fuel mileage are you getting?

Ya it is a 06, 4X4 and the automatic. I have about 1500 miles on it and get 14 mpg right now. I have seen 15 sometimes, and towing my travel trailer once I was getting 10 mpg. I was hoping for better. It sounds from posts that with more mileage the mpg will get better.

I bought the truck to pull the camper, about 8500 lbs, my Ford with the 351 was not doing it very well. We realy had to take it easy and with any hill or wind we were doomed. I spent the money on the diesel to amke sure I had enough power, but mostly for the mpg. I figured I could get a gasser to pull it but the diesel would be more economical.
