Default 2001 2500 slt 24 valve 5.9 cummins. Windshield wipers stopped working.

I have a 01 2500 SLT and my wipers quit working this morning. When you turn them on you can heat the motor really loud and if you manually raise them the motor will put them back down but they will not go up and down on their own. Ideas as to what the problem is?

Well since both motors are connected.. One is trying to work while id say the other one locked up so 1 motor is trying to push the other one.. Check to see which one isnt working... Check for power at the non working one.. If power then replace motor

Yeah my bad. Happens when you are taking ambien and reading 2 different forums here and jeep cj forums talking about wipers(who else remebers the great vacuum motors they used to have?) lol anyway yes there isn't 2 wiper motors. I even mentioned them being connected lol but anyway. Problem will lay within the motor itself which should be checked for constant power.. Sorry for the confusion!

The wiper mechanism is either jammed or the internal park switch is stuck in the park cycle, or shorted to ground, which is more likely since the mechanism will pull the wipers down when you raise them manually. The park switch is what reverses the direction of the wipers.
