Default diagonostics/scanners

i am thinking of getting a computer scanner for my 04.5 Cummins....what does everybody use or recommend? what should i look for or watch out for? i see these things advertised with a huge price range, so there must be a lot of differences. thanks

I have the autoxray 6000. It is for obd 1 also. I like it. It is easy to use, and it explains the codes right on the multiline backlit screen. Updates are always free, and you can download them from their site. And you can see real time data like your fuel rail pressure of like 23,300 psi (cool) www.autoxray.com
They have cheaper ones also that just do the obd2. Theres several models to choose from.
