06 Cummins replacement

Default 06 Cummins replacement

I just installed a new to me 5.9 in my 06 Ram 3500. The original engine was over 500k and still running, but using oil. Anyway the engine i installed is from an 07, and had 106k on the truck, however the engine has a sticker on it saying it was replaced in 09 by Dodge. I've just got to ask this question; since 07 is a transition year with both the 5.9 and 6.7 could i have used a 6.7 instead?

Would it have been a plug n play like the 5.9 was or perhaps with some simple mods?

i know 08 would be a NO way!

if you got an 5.9 engine from dodge in 09 ya done real good
