DEF pump

We just rebuilt the engine on a 2011 Ram 4500. When should the DEF pump run? It runs everytime you turn off the truck after driving it. Is that normal?

Is it running constantly or just a few seconds?

I’d have to look at the particulars for your truck but generally speaking the DEF pump and system should only be active during highway driving or a regen.
