I'm running 35's with a levelling kit (KORE) and have only minor rubbing issues (pass. side tire on lower control arm at full lock). I'd recommend looking at other tires. I'm running Toyo Open Country M/T's which are E-rated and do come in a 35x12.50 for either a 17 or 18" wheel and have very high ratings. I've found them to be very good for mild to moderate offroading with mostly street use.
I have BF Goodrich Mud Terrain 35x12.5x17. They rub the control arms with or without the leveling kit. Haven't had any issues with them rubbing anything other than the control arms though.

In regards to the tire rub. Has anyone tried to put wheel spacers on to help eliminate the rub?

I too am looking to level my truck and put on a set of Toyo 35"s but I don't want to have to worry about the rub. I had a '74 Jeep CJ7 with a 6" lift and 44"s (with spacers) that worked out real well but there's a bit of a weight difference between that and the CTD.

Any thoughts?

I would be more worried about the bearings with the spacers added in.

Yup - rub is no big deal, but offsetting the wheel causes all kinds of wear issues that are more serious and expensive. Oh - also, I looked again, and it's actually the UPPER control arm on the passenger side that rubs - it's more outboard than the lower.

Since the last post on this topic I’ve been looking at several different options for the leveling kit. Most are offering a 2” (coil spring spacer) with a pair of shocks for anywhere from $180-$300.

Then I noticed that several guys are running either KORE leveling kits or (mostly) KORE Chase Systems. The KORE system seems to be the better choice as there system actually replaces the coil spring rather than just wedging a hunk of metal or plastic in there.

Any thoughts?

The KORE system looks great but I haven’t been able to find any pricing and have yet to find a dealer here in the Midwest.

Could you guys (Mikahb and Mcohen) give us some feedback?

Thanks

on this 35" tire & wheel spacer thing... I looked at another CTD last night that had the 35's on there, no leveling kit and no rub. back spacing was 4.5". there was a good inch on both sides between the tire & control arm.

i believe there was an inch there while sitting still, but i would bet during some bouncing on turns, those tires rub. was this one inch while still or did you somehow flex the suspension and measure?

nope it was sitting still, with flex, i bet it would rub. but with a 2" leveling kit it should clear easy.

I'll have to check the backspacing on my rims because the first set we test fitted had plenty of clearance on the inside, but they stuck halfway out the fender. Those would have put way too much stress on various parts (as mentioned before).

the KORE setup's are quite possably the best there is for the 2/3500 rams. they only build these systems for the rams so they know the mechanics of these trucks better than just about anyone, includeing DC at times
