Default 2001 ram stumble

My dad has a 2001 dodge ram w/the cummins. When it is cold out and he trys to start it, it fires up, and then stumbles almost to the point that it dies, then it comes back. Once it has been started for the day it is fine. His local dealer reprogrammed the computer. This was sppose to take care of it, but it did not. Anyone have any ideas?

have the lift pump tested immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it sounds like it is getting ready to die. . .and when it dies the VP44 goes with it, however if you catch it early enough and get it replaced before it dies then your good to go
